'Minimooners' could spread their wedding break
22 September 2009 17:56
The suggestion of taking a "minimoon" could allow honeymooners to celebrate their wedding in style without facing the full cost of a holiday to remember at once.
Francesca Moore, spokesperson for wedding site hitched.co.uk, explains that a short break immediately following the marriage can be followed up later by a longer honeymoon.
In this way, couples are given chance to save a more substantial sum for their second getaway, or to use it to double for their first anniversary celebrations.
Anyone planning to do so could plan their dates to fall within the limits of a cheap annual travel insurance policy, further saving by avoiding the need for separate single-trip travel insurance.
"There are lots of hotel deals and special offers flying around at the moment so a minimoon or short break should be affordable to most newlywed couples," Ms Moore asserts.
She adds that this could mean a domestic break, followed by a longer overseas trip some months later, for the best of both worlds.
