Backpackers offered 5p accommodation

A backpacker accommodation specialist is celebrating its anniversary by giving travellers the opportunity to book beds for next to nothing.

Hostelbookers.com is entering its fifth year of trading and is offering holidaymakers a place to stay for five pence a night.

The deal will apply to five European resorts - Barcelona, Valencia, Corfu, Alghero and Santorini.

It announced 250 beds will be available for booking, with 50 going on sale each day from 14:00 BST between June 1st and 5th.

Hostelbookers chief operating officer David Smith told the Daily Telegraph the firm has enjoyed "unprecedented growth" in its first five years.

"This is the first time we have run a promotion on this scale but our anniversary felt like the perfect time - it's a way to say thank you to all our customers," he explained.

Backpackers must book their stay between July 6th and 10th to take advantage of the offer and are advised to buy travel insurance for their trip.
