Travel insurance for business trips crucial for US
02 March 2009 15:48
Travel insurance for business trips is vital for companies sending employees to countries such as the US, it has been claimed.
According to insurance specialist World First, the cost of medical cover is so high in some countries that taking a trip without adequate travel insurance would be foolhardy in the extreme.
Martin Rothwell, Managing Partner of Wordl First, suggested that travellers would require cover for both business and leisure trips to the US.
He warned that people requiring medical treatment in the US could be slapped with bills in excess of £40,000, ignoring the significant repatriation costs that would also be required.
"The important thing is getting you home and that is where travel cover comes into play," Mr Rothwell added.
Last month, a report published by InsureandGo revealed that many people are taking unnecessary risks while abroad.
The provider reported that as many as 13 per cent of skiers and snowboarders - approximately one million people - have hit the slopes while drunk - 18 per cent of those admitted to suffering an injury as a result.
