Cruising 'fastest growing sector'
06 December 2009 19:00
The cruising sector is the fastest growing in the global travel industry and is swiftly becoming a vital part of the sector, it has been claimed.
According to chairman of the World Travel Market Fiona Jeffery the cruise sector has flourished despite the ongoing financial turmoil seen around the world.
"A host of new ships are coming on the UK market; eight have started sailing this year and a further ten are scheduled for 2010," she said.
While such trips started life as a popular type of holiday for older tourists, she said, cruising is now becoming more fashionable for couples or families with children.
Before they sail off into the sunset on a cruise, Brits may want to get the right cruise travel insurance to cover their trip.
If travelling with a family, group travel insurance could prove better value for money than individual cover for each person.
Destinations which are popular for cruises include the Mediterranean, Dubai and the US, Ms Jeffery said.
