Croatia 'growing in popularity'
Croatia is fast becoming one of Britain's favourite tourist destinations, thanks to its value for money and favourable exchange rate.
That is according to the Post Office, which has released details of its latest Holiday Costs Barometer, disclosing that the Balkan state has joined Turkey and Bulgaria as Europe's cheapest locations.
This could increase the number of travel insurance policies taken out by British consumer holidaying in the region.
Sarah Munro, head of travel services at the Post Office, believes that cost is a factor in Croatia's attractiveness to Britons.
She said: "Croatia has been growing in popularity for some time now and in the early part of 2009 it is one of our fastest growing currencies – up eight per cent on the same period last year."
In April, Holiday Extras disclosed that Spanish holiday resorts remain popular with credit conscious British consumers, as living costs on the mainland are lower than in Britain.
