Montenegro and Serbia 'popular destinations'
Montenegro and Serbia are proving to be popular tourist destinations among Christmas travellers, according to TravelMole.
The tourism website revealed that these eastern European destinations provide holidaymakers with something a little bit different that is still short-haul.
Just outside of the Eurozone, holidays to destinations such as Egypt and Turkey are also in high demand among British travellers, TravelMole marketing director Graham McKenzie noted.
"Montenegro and Serbia are places that are remerging on to the tourism scene, again with relatively low cost flights and good air connections," he said.
"I would think its relatively short haul destinations, certainly from a UK distance, those that are outside the Euro zone, such as Egypt and Turkey - they'll continue to be popular."
Meanwhile, a survey published by travel search engine Kayak.co.uk suggests that despite the state of the economy, 45 per cent of Brits plan to fly somewhere warm this winter.
Interestingly, beach holidays and romantic city-breaks were considered the best winter holidays.
