Travel insurance 'vital' for trips in Britain

LV= has reminded Brits about the importance of travel insurance for domestic holidays after it learned that 12 million people plan to stay in the UK this summer.
The provider explained how holiday insurance for trips in the UK will cover travellers for a number of transportation issues, lost or stolen baggage and in the event that they need to cancel their trip early.
Its research indicated that one in four adults will take their main holiday in the UK this year, with respondents claiming that doing so will typically save them £247 per person.
Although only 16 per cent of those planning to holiday in Britain admitted they cannot afford to go abroad, 40 per cent suggested that financial concerns had informed their decision.
Emma Hoyler, a spokesperson for LV=, said: "The sliding value of the pound … plus the overall economic climate, have made holidaymakers think twice about spending their hard-earned wages on a trip abroad."
Last month, jml-insurance.co.uk claimed that more people could travel abroad this spring because Easter comes much later than in previous years.
It recommended holidaymakers to think about whether they would be better suited by a single-trip or annual policy.
