Cheap holidays 'increasingly popular'
British holidaymakers are increasingly on the lookout for cheaper trips, an industry expert has suggested.
According to Courtney Wylie, managing director for Holiday-Rentals.co.uk, Britons are extremely keen to have as cost-effective a holiday as possible this year and will avoid popular destinations in order to do so.
Moreover, he noted that people will also be aiming to save money on their holiday accommodation.
Mr Wylie made him comments following new research published on May 18th by On The Beach, which revealed that late bookings have seen a surge in popularity in recent weeks.
The managing director noted that it is still possible to book an affordable holiday to Europe this summer.
He said: "You can still get cheap package deals but that will be bargain basement. Check out the package deals by all means but you can get good deals by searching out the best flights and then find accommodation separately."
Earlier this month, Holiday Rentals published research that indicated people will spend £2,092 on their family holiday this year - £259 less than in 2007.
