Home holidays 'allow for budget control'
Taking a family holiday within the UK could help Brits to keep to their getaway spending budgets, it has been pointed out.
According to holiday firm Hoseasons, people taking a staycation may find it easier to keep a handle on their holiday spending, though cutting back on travel insurance could turn out to be an unadvisable way to do this should an incident occur.
"The wider economic climate has meant that people have been a bit more inclined to stay closer to home this summer, as a result of uncertainty in the job market," spokesperson for Hoseasons Peter Joyer said.
Figures from the Office for National Statistics showed that during the 12 months up until June this year, the number of Brits who took a non-seasonally adjusted trip overseas fell by ten per cent.
This took the number down from the 70.9 million seen in the previous year, to 63.5 million.
