North Tenerife to get cash boost

Cheaper cover for your holiday

Tourism in the resort of Puerto de la Cruz in north Tenerife is to get a euro 12 million (£9 million) cash boost, according to reports.

A major facelift is planned for amenities and services in the town, where tourism is the main industry.

Padron Rodriguez, mayor of Puerto de la Cruz and its new head of tourism, said that there would be more funding on offer in the future.

Mr Rodriguez said that this money was a "testament to the significance of the town as a major tourist destination".

The cash would bring Puerto de la Cruz "up to date following general wear and tear over the last 50 years as a booming tourist hub".

"Puerto de la Cruz is and will continue to be a point of reference in the search for quality and excellence in tourism," added Mr Rodriguez.

"And it is in this objective that all current efforts are being placed."

A dedicated team in the local council will now work to promote Puerto de la Cuz in domestic and international markets.ADNFCR-1320-ID-18549708-ADNFCR
