Package holidays 'continue to be popular'
13 November 2009 08:30
Families are increasingly taking package holiday breaks as it helps them to effectively budget, it has been noted.
And while having flights and accommodation included in a price could help people cut back on their spending, they may want to make sure that they remember to shop around for the best travel insurance quotes.
While cutting back on travel insurance cover could be a tempting way to reduce their spend, it may prove to be more expensive in the long run should people need medical treatment abroad.
According to global travel and tourism manager at Euromonitor International Caroline Bremner, there has been a rise in the number of people expressing interest in package getaways.
"Many consumers have returned to package holidays because they are looking for costs upfront so that they know exactly what they need to budget for," she said.
She also said that due to unemployment levels, people are now considering using their free time to jet off abroad and explore the world.
