Travel sector 'has to listen to consumers'
12 November 2009 13:18
The travel industry needs to make sure that it gives customers what they want, those in the sector have been urged.
According to the European Tour Operators Association (ETOA), when the group was first set up back in 1989, consumers had to "conform to what was being offered" by the travel industry. However, the sector now has to make sure it pays attention to customer demands in order to remain successful, it was noted.
Executive director of the ETOA Tom Jenkins said that the behaviour of travel consumers is changing and said that the sector is witnessing people impulse buying like never before.
"Now people just log onto the internet, do shop around on the internet and largely buy on the internet almost by whim," he said.
Brits looking for the best deals on their flights, family travel insurance and accommodation may find that the internet is to best place to search for bargains.
