Italian earthquake highlights travel insurance importance

A string of recent natural disasters have revealed the importance of taking out travel insurance before travelling anywhere in the world.
According to US provider Insuremytrip.com, severe flooding in the American Midwest and the catastrophic earthquake in Italy have exposed how necessary holiday insurance can be.
While it is not always possible to predict when Mother Nature will rear her head, the company urged holidaymakers to do everything in their power to prepare for the worst by taking out a policy.
Jim Grace, president and chief executive of the firm, explained: "Travel insurance provides undeniable peace of mind protection, but more importantly, it also provides consumers very real personal and financial protection if things go wrong."
Meanwhile, Ryanair reminded its passengers last week that the cost of their flights will no longer include travel insurance cover unless they specifically opt-in.
