Specialist travel insurance offers older travellers a better deal

Older travellers are being encouraged to seek out specialist insurers to get the best travel insurance deal, rather than just relying on price comparison search sites.
Price comparison websites are a great place to start a search for cheap travel insurance. However, people over the age of 65, and those who may have pre-existing medical conditions, may find they get a better deal with a higher level of cover if they go direct to a travel insurance specialist.
There are many factors that are taken into consideration when travel insurance quotes are generated. The date, duration and destination of the holiday all play a part, but much of the cost of the policy is calculated based upon information about the individual taking out the insurance.
People over the age of 65 and those with a pre-existing medical condition may find it difficult to find an annual multi trip travel insurance policy. Insurers are more likely to provide a single trip policy to someone with a medical condition as they can better assess the risk for a one-off, compared to an annual policy, which covers all trips for the year.
Price comparison sites may offer the best value policy in terms of cost but not necessarily the policy to best suit the needs of the traveller. Quotes that are generated from initial searches do not take into consideration the medical history and although the initial quote may be less than £100, there are very few comparison sites that enable people with pre-existing medical conditions to declare them online. Instead, travellers are often left with having to contact a host of insurance companies directly to see whether they will offer travel insurance to cover pre-existing medical conditions.
People can spend hours trying to find the right level of cover for the right price this way, whereas a bit of time spent researching specific types of insurance, such as seniors travel insurance or medical travel insurance, could give far better results, saving people time, money and hassle in the process.
There are a number of travel insurance specialists and a quick search on Google will being up a selection of those offering the best specialist policies where you can declare all your medical problems and get instant cover should you wish to take out the travel insurance online.
