Brits set to take winter sun holidays this autumn

Brits looking to escape the wet and windy UK weather will be looking to jet off abroad and soak up some winter sun this autumn, it has been suggested.

According to travel agent On the Beach, despite the high number of British holidaymakers who chose to spend their summer holidays in the UK, the winter will see many looking for hot holidays overseas.

Figures from travelsupermarket.com showed that this summer, more than 12 million Brits chose to stay at home and took their main summer holiday within the UK.

Before they jet off, holidaymakers may want to check that their travel insurance policy from the summer is still valid - or invest in a new one to offer them a higher level of cover for their trip abroad.

"Our bookings show that many people will travel to winter sun destinations such as Turkey, the Canary Islands, Tunisia and Morocco. We have had a pretty dismal summer here in the UK so we do expect a good winter sun season," marketing director at the travel firm Alistair Daly said.
