Single-trip travel insurance suitable for summer holidays

Single trip travel insurance is ideal for holidaymakers looking for nothing more than two weeks of sun, it has been claimed.

According to the Irish Independent, people do not need to waste money on an annual travel insurance policy if they will only be travelling to Maspalomas in Spain for ten days in July.

The newspaper suggested that a couple could save as much as 45 euros (£39) by shopping around for the best single trip cover, while a family of four could save up to 65 euros (£57).

It also urged holidaymakers to avoid policies bundled into package deals by travel agents - as they are usually overpriced - reminding consumers that they are under no obligation to purchase such policies.

"Some travel agents charge three times the minimum price for travel insurance for a family travelling to Spain for a fortnight," the newspaper reported.

"But by playing it smart, you can easily save enough for an inflatable killer whale, a football, a spare set of arm-bands, two pairs of goggles and a straw hat."

Earlier this month, Sainsbury's Finance urged holidaymakers staying closer to home that travel insurance can still be useful, even if they are not planning to leave the UK this year.ADNFCR-1320-ID-19015373-ADNFCR
