Brits 'more adventurous' on holiday
Britons are becoming more adventurous in their holiday destination choices, with increasing numbers of people heading to Turkey and eastern Europe as well as the traditional locations of Spain and France, experts say.
Claire Lilley, head of research for travel magazine Holiday Which?, explained that traditional beach holidays are always likely to be popular, but that holidaymakers are now looking for new experiences as part of their breaks overseas.
"People are more adventurous," she said.
"People are going on maybe three or four holidays a year and they don't always just want to lie on a beach.
"They're looking for things like bungee jumping and skydiving and canoeing and horse riding and all the rest of it, so I think that is set to continue."
Added activities on holiday mean added risk for holidaymakers, making activity travel insurance essential. However, those simply heading to the seaside and avoiding strenuous activity on holiday are also urged to make sure they are fully covered for any problems that may arise.
