Think about sports holiday activities 'before buying travel insurance'
Travellers heading off on sports holidays are being advised to carefully consider the type of activities they are planning on taking part in before buying travel insurance.
According to Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive at the British Insurance Brokers' Association, travel insurance for sports holiday can be 'confusing'.
"It is complicated because each insurer deals with things in a different way", said Mr Trudgill.
"The key thing is to have a think about what you want to do on holiday and then speak to your broker."
He added that holidaymakers should always make sure they tell their advisor exactly what they plan to do while abroad to ensure they get the right cover.
"Depending on what you are doing, insurers will deal with it in different ways," Mr Trudgill said.
Research by price comparison website Moneysupermarket.com released in February revealed that annual insurance policies can be cheaper than single trip cover for winter sports holidays.
