Air travel is widely recognised as one of the main contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, but a new website from the Ski Club of Great Britain is helping to restore the industry's positive image.

The industry campaign is also being spearheaded by the Travel Foundation, which is seeking to draw attention to the financial benefits of adopting a green business strategy.

Unveiling MakeSnowSportsGreener.com, Ski Club chief executive Caroline Stuart-Taylor commented: "This new website is the first time we have actually offered practical tips to resorts and businesses on how to become greener."

Sue Hurdle of the Travel Foundation added: "Going greener brings very clear business benefits and we are encouraging all snow sport operators and destinations to get involved and use the free resource. Not only does it help the environment it also helps the bottom line."

The website collects its environmental advice under ten categories, including snow production; sustainable design and construction; water conservation; and communication and education.
