'Decent winter sports insurance' important for skiing holiday
23 January 2009 17:40
Britons planning a skiiing holiday for the winter should definitely make sure that they have purchased an appropriate travel insurance policy.
That is the opinion of Liam Tarry, who has advised skiing holidaymakers to acquire a "decent winter sports travel insurance policy" before they set off.
Writing for moneywise.co.uk, Mr Tarry noted that it can be difficult to make a claim on an insurance policy following an accident or other travel-related problems while on a skiing trip.
He noted that it is vital to obtain a police report if ski equipment is either stolen or lost, while receipts or other forms of proof or purchase will also be needed.
"The key to any successful claim is to get everything in writing," Mr Tarry commented.
"Regardless of whether your equipment is lost or stolen, you can’t ski because of bad weather or you suffer an injury, you will always have to provide your tour operator's booking invoice or other booking evidence of your trip.
Mr Tarry went on to say that travellers should bear in mind that a claim made for a skiing holiday could be invalidated if bad weather warnings are ignored or if they ski with an unqualified instructor.
