Geneva 'worth a holiday' on its own
06 December 2009 19:09
While many travellers may end up heading through Geneva as part of a holiday to another region, the city is worth a visit all on its own, it has been noted.
According to Independent writer Ian McCurrach, people should not just "fly in and whizz straight off to the slopes", as the city can offer the chance to sample a wider range of culture than people may at first think.
The newspaper noted that in-keeping with its high-class image, the city "caters for high rollers", but also has an interesting student district and much "counterculture", such as concerts and art exhibitions.
Before getting travel insurance and jetting off to the city, Brits may want to know that the best places to visit in Geneva include the Jet d'Eau fountain on Lake Geneva, the famous Flower Clock and St Peter's Cathedral.
Visitors to Geneva could also be interested to learn that the Cern laboratory, which is home to the Large Hadron Collider, is near by.
