Yoga holidays are becoming much more popular among people looking for active breaks in the UK and abroad, it has been revealed.
While it is important that people pursuing such holidays take out sports and activities travel insurance, the rewards of 'intensive' yoga weeks can be quite satisfying.
According to responsibletravel.com, a specialist in family adventure holidays, the increased uptake in yoga and pilates holidays reflects the growing popularity of these disciplines in people's everyday lives.
Krissy Roe, spokesperson for the company, explained: "The yoga holidays do particularly well.
"There's been an increase, more generally, in people taking up yoga classes in the UK and the chance to do an intensive week of yoga is quite appealing."
Responsibletravel.com found this month that there was a 121 per cent year-on-year rise in the number of people booking 'holistic and wellbeing' holidays in 2008.
Its research indicated that travellers are looking to renew their spiritual wellbeing in the face of the economic disasters that have embroiled the last 18 months.
