Good travel insurance is a must as industrial disputes threaten the airways

Good travel insurance can be a bonus with possible industrial action due to hit the airways.

This comes as the state-owned firm that runs Spanish airports, AENA, reached an agreement with unions which called for 22 strike days during the holiday season over privatisation proposals.

The plan would safeguard jobs and working conditions once the sell-off takes place.

A mammoth negotiating session thrashed out the deal, which is still to be ratified by union members who were concerned that wages and benefits would be cut once state control is relinquished.

Strikes had been planned for the peak holiday season, starting on April 20 and taking in Easter Sunday and key dates through the summer.
