Many Britons will be spending the bank holiday on the beach, according to Abta
Spain, Turkey and Greece are three of the favourite destinations for the estimated 1.8 million Britons who will be escaping the British weather this bank holiday weekend, it has been revealed.
It is estimated 400,000 people will depart from Heathrow over the weekend. Elsewhere 250,000 are expected to leave from Gatwick, 150,000 from Manchester, 124,000 from Stansted, 68,500 from Luton, and 62,500 from Birmingham.
According to Abta, Spain is the most popular destination for British travellers this weekend. For those looking for a city break, Dublin, Amsterdam and Paris are the most frequently chosen while those looking for a domestic break favoured the south and south west coasts of England.
