Travellers have voted London Europe's most exciting as well as the easiest city to get around.
The survey of 3,523 European travellers, including 778 Britons, by travel site TripAdvisor also revealed the UK capital to be the most expensive city in the continent.
Paris was voted as having the least-friendly locals in Europe, while London occupied the second spot.
Holidaymakers can mitigate the worst effects of difficult experiences while abroad by covering themselves with a good
travel insurance policy.
Venice came first in the most romantic European city category, while Stockholm was ranked the safest.
Travellers surveyed voted Athens the dirtiest city in the continent, while the cleanest city title went to Zurich.
Lisbon was ranked the most underrated city, while Paris was voted the most overrated, followed by London.
The hardest European city to get around is Istanbul, according to travellers who took part in the survey.
Paris was named as having the rudest cab divers and Rome the friendliest ones.
