Passenger traffic at Dubai's aiports remains consistently high
Passenger arrivals at Dubai's airports topped four million for the eighth month in a row in August as the emirate continued to grow as an international travel hub.
Dubai's popularity as a holiday destination and a global business centre has been growing steadily, as indicated by the number of people taking out travel insurance and flights to the city.
Last month airports in Dubai saw passenger numbers rise 0.8% from August 2010. Arrivals between January and August 2011 were up 8% from the same eight-month period last year.
Airport officials reported a rise the number of visitors from several countries including the US, Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh.
Besides being a major aviation hub in the Middle East, Dubai's international airport is renowned for its duty free shops, which are a big attraction for travellers making a stopover there.
