Jaz Beach has been named the best in Europe
Montenegro is home to the best beach in Europe, according to Lonely Planet.
The travel publisher ranks Jaz Beach in Budva as the best place for holidaymakers to get their share of sand, sea and sun.
Peniche Beach in Portugal was listed second in the top 10, followed by Rondinara Beach in Corsica.
Jaz Beach is one of the longest beaches in Montenegro.
Its golden sands stretch for more than a kilometre along the country's Adriatic coast, with crystal blue waters that are perfect for an afternoon swim.
Hundreds of thousands of travellers will enjoy beach breaks this summer - and no doubt many of these will head to Budva.
But just because they will be topping up their tans all day, every day, it does not mean there is any less need for travel insurance.
Cover is essential, no matter what sort of holiday activities are lined up.
Cale Goloritze in Sardinia ranked fourth, while Vik Beach in Iceland came fifth.
Two UK beaches were next on the list.
Bantham Beach near Kingsbridge in Devon, described as a true all-rounder good for surfers, families and walkers, placed sixth, while Sandwood Bay in the Scottish Highlands in Sutherland, was seventh.
Cala Macarella in Minorca, Voutoumi in Greece, and Curonian Spit in Lithuania completed the top 10.
When it comes to family getaways, Lonely Planet ranks Kent in England as the best place to relax and unwind.
County Kerry in Ireland took second place, while the Black Forest in Germany took third.
Budapest in Hungary, Vorarlberg in Austria, and Aland Archipelago in Finland also featured highly.
Strangely, Ibiza, an island in the Mediterranean which has a reputation for its clubbing scene, was seventh on the list of best places for family holidays.
