Travellers can start buying tickets for the Eurostar ski train
People planning a winter adventure holiday in Europe this year can start buying tickets for the Eurostar ski train.
The high speed train service will be made available for travellers from December 17 (day services) and December 23 (night services) until April 14, 2012. It runs from St Pancras International and Ashford, Kent to the French Alps.
Holidaymakers are advised to book tickets as soon as possible to enjoy cheaper fares. A good travel insurance policy could prove useful for those embarking on a trip to the mountains.
The train stops at Moutiers, Aime-le-Plagne and Bourg St Maurice. These towns are located close to a number of popular French resorts including Les Trois Vallees, Val d'Isere/Tignes.
People travelling by Eurostar can also carry one additional item along with their normal luggage, such as skis or a snowboard, without the need to pay any extra.
Mary Walsh, Eurostar's Director of Communications, said: "On average, a Eurostar journey accounts for just one tenth of the carbon emissions of an equivalent flight and allows travellers to arrive close to their resort, relaxed, refreshed and ready to hit the slopes."
