Travel insurance companies may be interested to learn that the number of flights in the United Arab Emirates during January increased by 10.3%.
According to the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the daily average number of flights in the UAE was 1,846, with Dubai the busiest destination at a total of 26,134.
Air traffic movements from Abu Dhabi were reported as 8,390, while Sharjah International Airport recorded 5,315 movements.
Saif Mohammad Al Suwaidi, director general of the GCAA, said: "GCAA started 2011 by stressing its ability to maintain its growth in terms of air navigations, safety, security, licensing and aeromedicine and other operations."
During January, 17 licensing transactions for aircraft maintenance companies, 14 aircraft registration certificate transactions and 63 airworthiness certificate transactions were conducted by GCAA.
