Malta has welcomed viral video sensation Tom Frankenburg after he gave away a free holiday on YouTube
Malta has given a first-class welcome to a man from Nottingham after he gave away a £1,000 trip following a break up with his girlfriend.
Music teacher Tom Frankenburg became a viral video sensation online after he posted a clip on YouTube offering the free holiday, in which viewers were asked to explain why they deserved the chance to jet abroad to the Mediterranean destination. It had attracted almost 113,000 hits and 2,000 emails from hopefuls spanning across the globe.
The 22-year-old then chose a couple called Dawn and Stuart as the winning entry out of the thousands who submitted a bid. But his story did not end there, as This is Malta TV and the Malta Tourism Authority made an invitation for him and a friend to fly out to the island on an all-expenses-paid trip.
Models in traditional Maltese Ghonnella costumes greeted Mr Frankenburg when he touched down. The Maltese authorities said he will be given VIP treatment in acknowledgement of his act of kindness in handing out his holiday to a deserving couple.
While no hiccups are likely to happen as Mr Frankenburg and his friend Lee will be well looked after on their break, it is hoped that they invested in travel insurance for extra peace of mind while they enjoy the sights of Malta.
