Heather Mills has left hospital after suffering a serious shoulder injury in a skiing accident
A ski accident involving Heather Mills has highlighted the importance of having medical travel insurance after the incident in southern Austria resulted in her being rushed to hospital.
The 43-year-old, who is making a bid to represent the Great Britain in the 2014 Winter Paralympic Games, injured her shoulder after smashing through a fence while downhill training.
She was taken from the Moelltaler glacier and airlifted to a hospital in the town of Lienz, where she received treatment for a fractured right shoulder blade.
Mills had X-rays and a Cat scan and has now been released from hospital, her spokesman said.
The former wife of Sir Paul McCartney, who uses a prosthetic leg, has praised the attention and treatment she was given following the accident.
"The care and assistance of the Austrian community was incredible and something I will never forget," she said.
