As we near the opening match of football's grandest celebration on Thursday, fans are beginning to arrive in enthusiastic droves in Moscow.
The centre of Moscow is filled with colour from supporters of nations as diverse as Peru, Iran, Egypt and Argentina.
National flags draped over shoulders filled began filling Red Square this week.
Football fever
Samir Alhafith, an Australia fan, said Moscow was beginning to be gripped by football fever.
He said of the city's atmosphere: "It's amazing. I was in Moscow 28 years ago and it's nothing like I remember it.
"The first three days I was here, not that much atmosphere, but with two or three days to go it's starting to get a bit more buzzing."
A Russian fan called Sergey said he had tickets for five matches across the country and was looking forward to seeing new parts of his homeland.
High security
There is also a noticeable police presence at major metro stations and military-style officers near Luzhniki Stadium, which will host the opening ceremony and first match, showing the efforts to ensure high security in the run-up to and throughout the tournament.
The final will be held on the 15th of July.
The UK Government has said no officials or members of the royal family will attend the games following the diplomatic dispute between the UK and Russia over the poisoning of a Russian ex-spy in Salisbury in March.
It has been announced, however, that Robbie Williams will be among the performers for the showcase.
England's first group game is against Tunisia in Volgograd, more than 560 miles south of Moscow, on Monday June 18.
