Turkey has been hailed as good value for money for a relaxing holiday
Holidaymakers will be holding out hopes for
cheap travel insurance deals after a tourist industry spokesman announced that Turkey is "excellent value for money".
A break in Turkey will make for an affordable and relaxing summer holiday this year, said Tolga Tuyluoglu, UK and Ireland director of the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office
Britons would benefit from the well-established standards of guest services and a favourable sterling exchange rate, he said.
"Standards of accommodation and service are high and the exchange rate for sterling is good, so you can afford to enjoy yourself on holiday," said Mr Tuyluoglu.
"Although people are tightening their belts this year, I believe that most people will still want their week or two in the sun, and Turkey is a great all-round choice."
Holidaymakers could choose from several "fantastic beach resorts" to relax in the sun, with popular spots including Antalya, Bodrum and Istanbul, he added.
