Brits to head overseas for Christmas shopping

People in the UK are increasingly likely to head overseas for their Christmas shopping, it has been suggested.
A website has found that record numbers of Britons are travelling to foreign countries to fulfil their festive shopping needs.
The most popular destinations for Christmas shopping are New York, Berlin, Budapest and Cologne, according to the website alpharooms.com.
Gareth Hockey, marketing manager for alpharooms.com, said: "Rather than being restricted to UK prices, people see that a real bargain can be had by going abroad and want to make the most of the opportunity to buy truly original gifts for their loved ones."
It is also recommended that festive shoppers ensure they have adequate travel insurance cover when heading abroad, in case anything gets lost or broken before it gets home.
A recent survey discovered that the home comfort Britons missed most when on holiday was a hot cup of tea, followed closely by biscuits and Marmite.
