Firms need to think about flights, accommodation and car rental services as well as travel insurance for business trips.
To make these considerations easier, Business Travel World (BTW) magazine aims to honour some of the leading companies in a variety of different fields relating to business travel with its annual awards ceremony.
Announcing the 2009 winners at the end of last month, BTW recognised Lufthansa as the best long-haul airline and Air France KLM as the best provider of short-haul services.
There wasn't a category for the best travel insurance for business trips, but the BTW Awards 2009 did identify Hertz as the best car rental services and Yotel as the best business accommodation.
Premier Inn was selected as the best business hotel brand, while the judges chose Barclaycard Commercial as the best business travel product.
The judges panel included, among others, Bernadette Basterfield, JP Morgan Chase' Peter Reglar, Business Travel Direct; Andrew Solum, Travel Industry Associates; and Richard Tams, British Airways.
Last month, PricewaterhouseCoopers revealed that a growing number of hotels are attempting to attract business travellers by heavily discounting their accommodation fees.
