Cheap travel insurance offers compromised cover

Consumers who buy the cheapest travel insurance policy they can find may find themselves with less cover in the event that they need to make a claim, it has been warned.
According to InsureandGo, people who use comparison sites and money aggregators to find the best deals on holiday insurance could find that the choices being given to them offer little in the way of protection.
Perry Wilson, founder of the company, warned that some insurers offer attractive-looking deals hidden with high limits and excesses, meaning that holidaymakers will have to part with a substantial sum before getting anything back.
"There are so many cheap and nasty travel insurers out there. You need to make sure you get quality insurance," he said.
Mr Wilson added that there are a number of different types of cover to consider including medical; accident and personal injury; theft cover and luggage cover.
Earlier this month, InsureandGo published research indicating that two-thirds of all ski insurance claims related to medical problems, such as injury and illness.
