The Far East is the ideal destination for a family holiday, according to a respected travel magazine.
While offering a wealth of exotic activities for both parents and children, countries like Thailand and Vietnam also offer excellent value for money.
Post Office Statistics show that the holiday spending costs in European destinations such as Cyprus are often twice that of traditional backpacker locations, such as Thailand.
Sarah Baxter, deputy editor at Wanderlust Magazine, said: "Sometimes people don't like taking their children to places perceived to be too exotic, but I don't think that is the case [with the Far East].
"There are some fantastic operators that offer child-specific trips and places where the kids can go on an elephant ride."
She added that the Far East was a perfect destination for families with children, saying that there are things you "just wouldn't be able to do in Spain."
When travelling to the Far East, it is vital to ensure that you are protected by fully comprehensive travel insurance.
