Australia retains tourism accolade

Brand consultancy FutureBrand concluded that the antipodean country still has all of the charm and allure that has for decades drawn visitors from across the globe.
It based its findings on the results of a survey of 2,700 travellers spread across nine countries.
Curiously, the oft-overlooked North American nation of Canada came in second, just behind third place America. Other countries to make it into the top ten included Italy, France and Japan.
"In this our fourth year, it is exciting to see many countries embracing the idea of brand," commented Rina Plapler, senior executive director at FutureBrand.
"However, we still feel this is a largely under-developed category, with most countries continuing to promote and market themselves in ways that are not differentiated."
The survey also broke its findings down into categories, with Australia winning the additional accolade of best country brand for outdoor activities and sports.
