Bulgaria and Poland 'offer short breaks on a budget'

Brits looking to take a short getaway which doesn't break the bank could find that destinations such as Bulgaria and Poland offer everything they want on a holiday for less money than other places.

According to research conducted for Tesco Travel Money, a family of four taking a break to Bulgaria could expect to pay around £1,490 - but the same group could take a holiday to Brighton and end up paying £1,038.

Commenting on the findings, travel expert at travelsupermarket.com Bob Atkinson said: "Bulgaria has always had a package holiday market from the UK for both sun in the summer on the Black Sea and in the winter for skiing. It has been known as a budget destination."

He noted that skiing is expensive is countries such as Italy, Austria and Switzerland.

As well as this, Mr Atkinson pointed out that due to Poland having such a small ski industry, it could be "dirt cheap" to take a break there.

Brits planning on taking a winter sports holiday may want to check that their travel insurance covers them for activities such as skiing or snow boarding.
