22m Britons to enjoy a European trip this year

Although we may enjoy our trips to far-flung destinations, it seems that many people are happy just to get a little bit of sunshine in a destination relatively close by.
A survey by First Rate Exchange Services found that 22 million British people intend to visit Eurozone destinations during 2010, making it the most popular destination by far.
Gordon Gourlay, managing director of the currency company, pointed out that good value can be had in popular resorts in places like Spain and Portugal.
"Lower tourist prices across the eurozone are extremely good news for the millions of UK holidaymakers who are set to make to a return to traditional holiday destinations … this year," he said.
However - and perhaps with this news in mind - travellers have been warned by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office not to be complacent as part of its ongoing Know Before You Go campaign.
This urges people to protect their safety everywhere they go on holiday, whether it is an adventurous destination or not, and insists that the European Health Insurance Card is not an alternative to travel insurance cover.
