Camping a 'green' holiday choice

Taking the family camping has been heralded as a greener choice of holiday and represents an opportunity to get back to nature and explore the outdoors, according to Eurocamp.
Eurocamp says that the varied styles of accommodation to suit all budgets were an attractive feature of camping along with catering for the needs of all members of the family.
Ruth Start, heading of sales and marketing at Eurocamp, says that camping has experienced growing interest among holidaymakers, even for those not prepared to rough it.
"There has been a shift away from canvas to the sturdier accommodation types such as mobile homes and chalets as families prefer home-from-home comfort", she said.
The range of outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing and bike riding allows families to spend valuable time outside and travel insurance experts advise families to check policies to ensure they are adequately covered when camping.
The AA last year acknowledged a boom in British holidaymakers showing an interest in camping by way of what is described as a 'carbon backlash'.
