Europe rides high in the stag and hen party stakes

When it comes to stag and hen parties, our mums and dads are happy to inform us that they made do with a few pints down at the local pub and thought themselves lucky.

However, nuptials these days call for much more in the line of large-scale celebrations and the happy couple's last night of freedom has also grown to reflect this.

Now, you don't have to just head to one of our many British seaside resorts - you can make the whole thing into a mini-break abroad!

And apparently, Brits are making the most of the exploratory opportunities available in Europe, because all five of the top overseas stag and hen party destinations are on the continent.

This is according to a new study by , which found that Amsterdam tops the charts for the most popular stag and hen location, closely followed by Krakow, Riga and Prague.

And Portugal's Algarve came fifth, presumably among the revelers determined to get some sunshine before the big day.

Despite the fact that many of the top five destinations may not warm up for a few months yet, Andrew Shanahan of men's wedding magazine Staggered said he is sure this won't put people off.

"There are a range of activities on offer from all of these cities which can keep anyone entertained, regardless of the weather," he pointed out.

Boxer Ricky Hatton recently arrived back in Manchester after enjoying a friend's stag do, so the Canary Islands could be another place to consider if you're thinking of heading abroad for your own party.

Some of the most popular activities for the holidays were found to be quad biking and cyber golf (we're not sure why the real version didn't get a mention!), but don't forget to check out some of the cultural delights while in any of these European destinations, as they all have much to offer.

However, if you do intend to do any sports, don't forget to take out special travel insurance cover to reflect this.

You let your hair down and focus on fun and what you're all going to have printed on your T-shirts and let us organise no-fuss cover at low prices.
