Good weather in alpine regions 'underestimated'

An expert has claimed that many people underestimate how good the weather can be in alpine areas during the summer and only opt to visit them during the ski season.

The BuyAssociation, a website which specialises in overseas property, says that holidaymakers are missing out because they are not taking advantage of the spectacular summers in many mountain regions.

Paul Collins, property editor at BuyAssociation, said: "If people are looking for a break in the sun, but something that's just slightly different, you get the fantastic clean air in the mountains.

"You've got the beautiful fresh water lakes that are fed by the melt water from the glaciers and the snow fall, so wonderful clear fresh water in a lot of the lakes."

He added that this type of holiday offers travellers a sun-soaked holiday that is somewhere "a bit different".

Travel insurance is a must for those jetting off to mountainous regions this summer, particularly if they plan to take part in activities such as trekking and rock climbing. ADNFCR-1320-ID-18547343-ADNFCR
