Spain is top destination this summer

Spain is said to be the most popular destination with families this summer and it seems the credit crunch is doing little to dissuade people from heading overseas.
According to new research, 95 per cent of British families are definitely or very probably going on holiday over the next few months despite ongoing economic turmoil.
The most attractive tourist hotspot this year is Spain, followed by France, the US and Greece.
Denise Roberts, resource manager at mychild.co.uk, which conducted the research, said: "Overall the results of the survey tie in with research conducted by Mintel two years ago which showed that families are increasingly seeing the family holiday break as a necessity rather than a luxury."
The survey found that one third of families which responded have already booked their trip while more than half were yet to buy air tickets and reserve accommodation.
Figures released earlier this month by Reuters showed that the number of tourists visiting Spain was up in March, with 4.4 million travellers jetting in to the country.
This was a rise of 7.4 per cent on the same month in 2007.
