Theme parks 'recession proof'

Theme parks and amusement parks across Europe continue to attract high numbers of tourists as such entertainment venues are "to an extent, recession proof", it has been claimed.

According to the executive director of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), Andreas Veilstrup Andersen, theme parks and other similar places are "very strong drivers" of tourism and noted that the 2009 holiday season has not been as bad as was expected in the sector.

His comments followed the news that president of Real Madrid football club Florentino Perez is looking into building a Real Madrid-themed amusement park north of the Spanish city.

Brits planning on taking a trip anywhere in the world and visiting theme parks or similar places could find travel insurance a good buy.

Holidays which involve going to water parks could also benefit from travel insurance to help cover the financial cost of any medical treatment for a slip or fall which may occur on a wet surface.
