Those thinking of getting travel insurance and heading for an overseas break could find that Europe, and specifically Vienna is an affordable place to visit.
According to the Vienna Tourist Board, while Vienna may not be a particularly cheap place, compared to other large cities it is affordable for those on a mid-to high range travel budget.
Media manager at the board Angelika Grzebyta said that as well as being a good priced place for a holiday, Vienna offers a wide range of places to stay.
"There are also many events or locations that offer free access such as the Danube Island Festival, the Life Ball, the Vienna Music Festival in front of the city hall, all Christmas markets or the New Year's Eve Trail. In terms of food Vienna also offers a great variety for the price conscious eater," she said.
A new report from STR Global suggested that occupancy levels in hotels in the city are set to increase by between six and nine per cent next year.
