Iceland 'an affordable destination'
24 September 2009 09:31
Iceland is becoming more of an affordable destination to visit, which could interest those Brits who have been put off visiting the country in the past due to cost.
To save even more cash on their trip, shopping around for the best flights could be a wise move, although cutting back on travel insurance could prove to be financially risky should an incident occur on holiday.
According to marketing manager at iceland2go Ray Steward many travellers have been deterred from taking a trip to Iceland as it is seen as a high-cost place, but he pointed out that the capital city of Reykjavik is now being seen as comparable in price to many other European cities.
Iceland could also offer something different to visiting tourists, he said, such as seeing the Northern Lights and taking tours to the country's glaciers.
Figures from the Icelandic Tourism Board showed that during 2009 so far, Iceland has seen a 1.2 per cent rise in the number of tourists visiting.
