Package holidays 'have helped Egypt'
06 December 2009 19:30
Tourism figures in Egypt have been boosted by package holidays to the country, it has been claimed.
Minister of tourism for the country HE Zoheir Garranah said: "We were the first country to move when the economic crisis began. One of the things we have been doing is offering packages with tour operators and also working on our marketing campaigns."
While package holidays may make it easier for Brits to keep an eye on their getaway budget and could also prove a more convenient option, tourists should make sure they keep in mind that travel insurance is not included in such breaks and needs to be purchased separately.
Figures from the Thomson and First Choice Top Ten Hot Destinations for 2010 report showed that Egypt has "soared" in its popularity as a holiday spot.
The firm noted that the country is good for families and has draws including great weather, a short flight time from the UK and much culture for Brits to enjoy.
