Beijing, the host of the current Olympic Games, is one destination that is becoming more open and user-friendly with tourists, it has been stated.
Sharon Livingston, editor of Travel Magazine, has said that the world is opening up more for holidaymakers and tourists are beginning to visit new places.
She explains that Beijing in China and destinations in the Middle East are some of the most popular of these.
Ms Livingston said: "Beijing is becoming more and more friendly to tourists. In the past it may have seemed a little unfriendly but it is now more user and western friendly.
"There are also places in the Middle East that have become playgrounds for those with disposable incomes. As Dubai is a place that has been very popular, the other Middle Eastern countries are following suit."
Tourists visiting these or any other destinations are advised to take out travel insurance in case any hiccups occur on holiday such as a flight cancellation, lost baggage or the need for hospital treatment.
According to an email survey carried out by the magazine, China is the top predicted growth area of 2008.
