Domestic camping holidays, which can be covered against using travel insurance, are surging in popularity, according to an industry expert.
LV= has published its research into the holidaying trend and discovered that advanced booking at campsites around the UK have increased by 27 per cent this year.
In addition, the study disclosed that one-third of all UK adults are considering either going on a camping or caravanning holiday this year, as a trend towards low cost trips is amplified by the recession.
A spokeswoman for LV= said: "Camping is a fantastic way to experience the great British countryside, and with a hot summer predicted it's set to be a bumper year for camping and UK holidays in general."
Last week, the self-catering holiday provider Hoseasons disclosed that consumer perceptions towards domestic holidays are beginning to alter, as the recession and the declining value of the pound restrict the budgets allocated to vacations.
